Biography

Marilee Poirier spent her early years in the Philippines, where she first discovered her passion and talent for drawing through her love of comic books. In 1982, she moved with her family to the United States, where she began sketching realistic portraits of her family and friends.  A self-taught artist, Marilee continued to draw throughout college while pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical and biomedical engineering.  Her mastery of highly detailed, photorealistic drawings was driven by her creativity, a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to her craft.

For over a decade, Marilee's artistic endeavors took a back seat to her engineering career. It was her daughter's birth that reignited her passion for art as she found renewed inspiration in illustrating precious everyday milestones. She focuses on the aesthetic nature of art, aiming to capture the essence of her subjects in intimate settings and engage the viewer with her own unique style. Marilee specializes in portraits, landscapes and illustrations in simple vignettes from life.  She works in several mediums, such as charcoal, graphite pencils, colored pencils, pastels, watercolor, pen and ink, and digital technology.  

Aside from being a devoted wife and mother, Marilee finds joy, serenity and fulfillment in being an artist. Her greatest inspirations are her family, God and all of His beautiful creations.  She currently resides in Southern California.
